Clio 182 - 60k service today

  Shhh
Dropped the clio today into Renault Louth for a 60k service.

Unsure how much its going to be costing myself, though when i dropped it off the service manager hinted that i might be getting a phone call telling me that the car needs brakes etc..

I carefully explained that it had front pads and disks not so long ago, and new pads in the rear.

Also that it needs 4 tyres asap..

So lets see what comes of it.. :)

Help help
I have just bought a 182 cup 05 reg and its just due a normal service not the belt and I have been quoted £365 plus VAT is this right?

I feel this is very expensive! and I asked the dealer why and they said its because the sport parts are more expensive. I cannot belive I am going to pay all this for oil and filter and plugs. My friend has a sti scooby and that was only £270 all in please advise me as I have only just bought one and need help

Clio 60k service, inc replace number plate light as it had corroded to death, and put a clip on a cv joint (inc regrease) was £218.00

They put 5w40 oil into the engine too.

Kate, i paid £236 i think for the 36k service. Just argue that it does not take long to change the belt once they are in there. My bet would be to email a forum user called 'edde' on here as he is a renault mechanic and can tell you how to tell them that it can be done in 30mins.

No offense guys but i just cant see why people continue to use main dealers for servicing, any garage will service a car for less than half the dealers price, you're service book will still get stamped, the only possible downside i can see is that it wont be a genuine dealer stamp, however, very people bother about this when buying a car as long as it has been stamped by someone.

And with the amount of horror stories on here:S

Most garages will know more about renault's than a renault dealership.

You're so right matey..

When i traded my 182 in earlier this year to the reno dealer i got it from all they was asked if the car had been serviced at 12k, i said yes by my dads mate who is a mobile mech, he also sorted out the rubber stamp too for a fraction of the cost that the dealers charge.

Best advice people is to shop around. My girlfriends Diahatsu had an oil change not so long ago, and the quotes varied from £48 to £150. To do the same job. And the dearest dealer was the closest, so by driving a few more miles you'll save a bunch.

Besides, my local Renault dealer's workshop always seems to be full of pre-pubescent kids in red overalls. I've never seen anybody who looks like they'd know their arse from their elbow. Which is why I don't take my Clio there!

In short, i paid £118 as i had a £100 voucher from renault outstanding.

Figured i could advertise it as a FRSH as appose to FSH when i come to sell it..

As the car is out of warranty and the service is just like any other one now, its just a case of having the right stamp etc.

It was £88-£220 for other places..

To be honest all a service is on a car up to 3/4 yrs old is an oil and filter change, i do it myself on a saturday morning at my mates garage, sorted! The book gets stamped too...

Only think i use a a proper techy is for cam belt and aux belt... and in that case i use a specialist (rs-tuning)

my service wasnt at a reno stealer, it was so dear as the brakes work and MOT were over £330 on there own.

Fully synthetic oil, oil filter, air filter, gear box oil and new copper washers came to £59.

Because the dealers have higher rates plus use the correct parts there costs have to be higher than your adverage back street place.

Your book might be stamped but ever had a failure in a none dealership serviced car where a proper service (not just an oil change etc) results in a claim well you get nowhere as a prper service would pic the fault up and fix before a failure etc.

The horror stories on here are over rates most owners on here don't even know what oils can be used anyway.

I'd trust a dealership opver any back street garage. Most places don't know more about Renault than Renault themselves it stands to reason.

60k on a vee is horrendous, best avoided. Ill put money on you having another car by july anyway, so only be on a few more miles

and you went for that? as for the caliper - on a car that new if a bleed nipples f**cked they f*cked it simple as.

know what you mean, but the old 172 was 'reet' and you still managed to talk yourself out of that as well
