Clio 182 abs

  2004 Clio 182 BG FF
Hi all,

I had the abs rings changed on my 54 plate 182 this week because someone before me had put the non cup rings on and the abs was pulsing at low speed.

Following the abs ring change the fault is now gone but the abs light has come on. Light is on permanently and doesn't turn off.

Any ideas what this could be as a result of? I've only got a simple obd reader but no error codes etc.

Car is booked in for MOT on no day so great timing. I'll have the wheels off at the weekend and check sensors etc.

Cheers,

Tom

Sensor on the blink, also you need CLIP to check the abs system or if your handy with electrics an oscilloscope will work.

If the light is on with the ignition and stays then its probably electrical, more than likely a speed sensor, could also be one of the speed sensor connections or worst case the ABS pump/ECU.

My advise, first check your speed sensors aren't built up with brake disc/pad shards, then make sure the rings are located under the sensor properly and if all looks fine find someone or somewhere with CLIP to pin point the exact location of the fault as some of these generic code readers are not great at detecting faults on the mk2 Clio.

Thanks both, i'll have a check of the sensors at the weekend and make sure everything is lined up. If that doesn't solve it i'll take it down to the Renault Specialist in Penzance to have a read.

Just to conclude this, popped down to AMG Renault in Penzance and he plugged it in, was an old fault code from before the abs rings where changed so he cleared it and all done. Anybody in Cornwall needs anything Renault then pop down and see Andy, very helpful!
