Clio 182 Cup Turbocharged

  Clio 182 Cup Turbo
Hi All,

Older guy now but had the original 16v (1992 J plate just before the original Williams version). Still miss it and, as life goes on, I've been looking fast Renault's and always hankering over something similar.

I've entered a few competitions to win things like a Renault 5 turbo or even Megane's and a few Clio's. This week I won a Redline draw for this...

2.0 16v engine enhanced with a Dynamics Turbo Kit & Dump Valve
Full resonated Miltek Exhaust
MTS Coolant hose kit
Cooksport Springs
EVOL rear strut brace
Recaro Treadline Trophy front seats
Real Carbon Fibre wrapped window switches, dash fascia and dash inserts
Graphite Speedline Turini Alloy Wheels with blue metal flake

Does anyone recognise it? Must have been a previous/current members project?

I'm picking the car up tomorrow and really can't wait to reminisce on the drive home.

Congratulations! It looks really tidy and their kits seem to be really good. It’ll certainly be a good laugh to drive.

I’d just start stockpiling gearboxes 🤣

Do they still have questionable gearboxes? That was the end of my original 16v. It was like this...

...I have photos of mine but they are in a box in the loft. Pre digital cameras. I am so old.

They are not a fan of being rushed - nor ragged from cold. Being sympathetic with them (as with all gearboxes) does work wonders. I had a driveshaft go bang on mine some several years ago and it damaged part of the gearbox as a consequence. From what I can gather, they are OK with handling a bit more power without much fuss - but you are adding more stress to a component that probably wasn't the best to begin with. A good replacement 'box oil helps a lot too.

Luckily, we have a Gearbox Guru on here in the form of @NorthloopCup - who not only rescued and revived my gearbox (https://cliosport.net/threads/the-unicorn-jc5.832201/) - but is a bottomless font of knowledge on them, should you have any questions.

Thank you. I’ll always let it warm up. Hope I don’t need the guru but I’ll remember.
