Clio 182 Exhaust

  LY R26 #288
I'm taking my car to my local friendly tyre and exhaust place on Saturday, because there is a blow in my standard exhaust system at the middle box. I know these exhausts are well known for rot but I thought I'd let them look at it just to confirm the exhaust has had it.

If they tell me its had it I'm going to order a scorpion rs192 exhaust. Anyone had any experiences with these exhausts or own one?. Any comments?.

I really didnt want to modify, but its the best option. Cheaper and long lasting. I'm hoping its not going to be too loud!.

really? Looks like a piece of cake. The only thing that might take time is adjusting it to hang right in the bumper recess

I've owned 2 RS192's,
one i bought for my trophy - which i later sold for a Yozza,
one I had on my RB182 when I bought it, which I've sold for a KTEC Ultra.

The latter exhausts are a better fit, sound nicer, and are lighter.

everyone has different opinions on exhaust, i don't really wanna pay yozza prices tbh. I just want somethin that looks good and is quiet

As for noise on the RS192, if your going catback the noise is very mild so might be what you're looking for.

You sound quite set on a RS192,
if you are not looking for noise they're an alright system, they just take a little longer to fit well compared to a KTEC/Yozza.

i don't mind a load of noise when you rag it, but normal driving and motorway driving i like to be fairly quiet, whats the ktec system like? Bearing in mind i'm keeping the cat on

  Corsa Van. Meh.
Try Piper. I have one on the 182 with a sports cat and its pretty quiet. Decent fit too.

The RS192 does sound good when the revs get above 4k but for normal driving you hardly notice it, I can hear the road noise above it but I do live in Stoke where the only roads that get repaired are the ones councillors and high ranking council officials use :dapprove:

Like people say though, it is a b**ch to fit well. If I was going to fit another i'd hire an oxy-acetylene torch to heat the brackets up and bend them into a shape that meant the exhaust wasn't held against the floor and heat shields, and the oxy-acetylene should be able to heat the tubing enough to bend using brute force.

You'll also need plenty of exhaust assembly paste too for all the joints and don't be shy with it either, especially at the centre box and (de)cat junction

out of all the exhausts i have heard, the 192 probably sounds the best. As im not into raspy exhausts. I take it Magnex went bust before they made a system for the 182 as on most cars they are nice and quiet unless on track...

i don't get it? Shouldn't it fit straight on without any modification like it says on their website? Lol

don't use exhaust paste it just goes hard and cracks load of crap, use decent clamps and high temp/exhaust silicone;)

my bad, I thought I had typed exhaust ASSEMBLY paste not exhaust putty :S

ohhh, just read my previous post, it turns out I did :rasp:

i didn't say anything about exhaust putty though which goes hard and cracks. and is a load of crap. so I read somewhere.

the RS192 already comes complete with some very high quality stainless steel clamps to attach all the parts together and can be tightened vf tight but you will need a new one for the centre box to cat junction and that really does need a good one to get a seal. I tried 3 before I found one that would form a good seal against the tiny lip on the centre box.

Well I took it to the exhaust place today and had a look at it on the ramps, suprise suprise the whole system from cat back is infested with rust and all the welds are breaking.

So its crunch time, I'm trying to decide between the Scorpion RS192 or the KTR/Janspeed supersports exhaust. I'm sort of swayed towards the janspeed as the fitting seems good and its cheaper. But I do like the sound of the rs192. Only thing is people say you cant get the tail pipes high enough because the boxes touch the boot floor.

Well after reading so many good reviews about the rs192 on the clio trophy forum I've gone and ordered one, along with a set of new rubber mounts and a new cat to centre section clamp. So Looking forward to getting that on!.

I've got a magnex on my 182, fantastic system, in that it makes no noise, it's just getting hit old/battered now :(

Well I couldnt wait or be bothered to fit it myself this weekend, especially as we're expecting more bad weather.

So I got it fitted at an exhaust place. And one hour and forty five minutes later it was finished. I'm really impressed with the sound of the exhaust, its just right, and I like the look of the tail pipes over the standards.

But I think I'm gonna have to make some adjustments lol...

The left hand pipe is spot on but I think I'm gonna have to make some adjustments to the right hand pipe and see if I can get it to sit a bit better!.
