NO! … as Bloke says there is no pin !!!Am i missing the a pin or something here ?
No, Renault were just too cheap skate to do it right.Am i missing the a pin or something here ?
oooooOOOOO la LA ... too sexy for my T-shirt ...... but they still have six bolts to allow for micro adjustment ..... that could slip :wink:No, Renault were just too cheap skate to do it right.
looking at the state of it you might want to change the crankshaft oil seal ...... or at least take a serious look at it.....Am i missing the a pin or something here ?
I like these.Water pump saga …… while the pump came off without a fight the old gasket is far from the same story …… finally I took the bumper and cross member off to get easier access (knowing it will also help with the aux belt) ……. I tried a simple wall paper scraper (too dam 'ard), then a wire brush on a drill (no real access), then paint stripper, then special gasket stripper = triple X paint stripper and even then I still needed the scrapper, a razor blade and the wire brush (smaller one) …. WTF…. well it's off now ……. but at what cost …… Any thoughts on putting a thin layer of cam cover sealant between the gasket and the engine block …… to fill those little nicks I've put in it ????? see picture

People in glass houses, shouldn't w**k off.I'm sorry I can't help, but don't you wish you paid someone now?

Well Davvy ... I recon I am doing this BECAUSE I PAID a pro to change the belts in sept 2015 and then poooof ..... of corse he did nothing wrong and wants to charge over 2500 to put it right ... frankly I'd rather screw it up myself ... plus ... it's a sort of twisted FUN!!!Haha true, but I too wish I'd paid someone when I make errors!
any ideas concerning the curious washers I have that do not seem to fit anywhere ?????I'm sorry I can't help, but don't you wish you paid someone now?
I'll take a look at the mount on that side ... seems OTT for a simple cambelt change though .....Fiddly fucker to get the cover back in. I loosened the gearbox mount, pushed the engine right over and that gave just enough room to wiggle in from the top.
Would also like to know a trick of how it goes in..

@MicKPMmysterious washers ....
I can not think of what these washers are for ...... any ideas ??? ... help !!!!
note crank pulley is just for scale!!View attachment 178651
I tried the engine mount on the gearbox side ….. no room to jack it up and off the rubber mount ….. there seems to be only about 1cm of free space on that side as well!!I'll take a look at the mount on that side ... seems OTT for a simple cambelt change though .....
thanks for that ….. so I'll be hoping nothing goes to s**t if they are the only thing left on my work benchdon't recognise the washers??

good to hear ……I'm in the middle of doing my cambelt and i haven't come across these washers.
Haven't got that far yet 😂 but the guide/manual does say "WARNING: it is essential to refit the timing cover before the accessories pulley"good to hear ……
…… Any tips on getting the lower plastic cambelt cover back on ????
got that … I've not fitted the aux pulley yet …. only the crankshaft pulley required for the actual cam belt …. still seems to be impossible to get the lower cover onHaven't got that far yet 😂 but the guide/manual does say "WARNING: it is essential to refit the timing cover before the accessories pulley"

btw I did clean all the shafts and pulleys with brake cleaner TWICE ....update on cambelt setting ....
So I've jumped through the hoops - tension cambelt -> torque up crank shaft pulley -> torque up inlet camshaft pulley -> torque up exhaust camshaft pulley -> remove camshaft locking & aligment tools and pop!!
When I pull out the aligment tool (it was kind of stuck in) the inlet camshaft moved a few degrees like it was sprung loaded or something
HOW is that possible ???
I guess I need to slacken off the two camshaft pulleys and jump through the same hoops again ... but how to avoid the same results ????
and in theory new nuts and bolts !!!!
all comments welcome.......
bolt it onto the camshaft and check for play …. without the cam belt in placehow have you determined there is play in the new dephaser pulley?
