Clio 182 faults found during warranty work

  Shhh
Took the car in this morning for the exhaust to be repaired and the shock absorber to be looked at..again.

When they gave me my car back after about 2 hours of waiting in the garage they informed me that the rear shock absorber was leaking (this was replaced 20,000miles ago on warranty) and that i had alot of failures noticed during the health check.

My warranty runs out in March, therefore my MOT is due 27th March or something like that, so i was interested in the results from the check. Turns out i have a few things wrong.

I knew about the RH front Tyre as it got kerbed on friday, but nice to know the LH has a screw in it.. have to look at replacing the front pair, or maybe getting it repaired..

The rear tyres have been on since build, so thats little wear, or the guy has not done it correctly. They have been on for about 37,000miles that i know of.. ???

The failure sheet..

What you think guys, looks like alot of stuff for a nearly 3 year old car. Renault said most things are NOT covered under the warranty and its MOT time soon.

They have this thing called MOT warranty, where they will cover the CV joint boot thing, therefore i could save on a few things.

Ive known about the rear wiper blade for about 18months, something ive just not changed as i dont really look out the rear window. Its something ill leave until the day before the MOT, prob pick one up from a scrappy for £1 or something.

The tyres can be sought elsewhere, the disks from Yozzasport for the bremo's.. and then the rest.. i assume the exhaust mounting is a rubber thing that slides on.? Easily changed.? What about that CV thing, can that be done easily.?

Problem i read with that warranty is that it requires you to pay for 2 mot's doesnt it.?

Or is it just the one, then the work to repair it.?

If thats the case, then its the £41 mot fee, followed by the £79 for the warranty thingy..

Needs to be 3 months before MOT is due though..

Id push for the CV boot to be done under warranty as its quite a common problem.

I had it on the 36k service on my 172 and after telling them i thought it was a warranty issue they did agreed and completed it.

I struggled to get the exhaust rattle fixed. Dont even know if it is fixed as i drove home with the radio on.

At the moment i just dont care about he car. We've had 2 cars pull out on us last minute over the weekend, nearly smashed it into a corsa pulling out of blockbusters in wrexham if i did not steer away, then someone has put 2 scratches down the LH quarter panel, the RH front wheel was kerbed on fri eve splitting the tyre wall, so i had an old one about. Then i notice more dents in the bonnet..

Then this morning coming back from Renault Grimsby, i get past the Honda garage when a old man in a Seat just pulls out, lucky the brakes were ok. I know the cars line the street and its hard to see.

Ive had a few near misses now that i nolonger care if i crash into someone, at least the bonnet dents would be removed and maybe the kerbed wheel repaired....

I love my clio..honest.. :)

So..when renault tell me that ive got all these faults..you can imagine im dead happy.. :)

put my 182 in for a fault today warranty runs out in a month. they told me rear shock is damp(leaking) - not covered under warranty. also front pads binding and number plate light unit needs replacing which is apparently a common fault? overall they wanted 270 quid!!!!!! only put it in cos the engine seems to have developed a bit of a knock at idle speed over last week. anyone had similar issues with engine?

  Shhh
whats the mileage on the car..

shocks should be covered to about 26,000 or so.

They are only about £60 new from renault anyway.

The pads are one of them things, the rear light you could get off eBay, or from the scrap yard and do it yourself.
