Clio 182 High Flow/Sports Cat quesiton

  BG Clio 182
182, with RS192 exhaust system. I don't want to go De-cat because whether it is or isn't illegal is a debate, I just cant be bothered with the hassle. I would much prefer a sports cat. My standard cat is flopping underneath the car and is prettty annoying. Wondering whether or not a sports cat would lift this up?

Also, would i get any difference in sound or tone and by how much? and would there by any power differences whatsoever? and could you recommend a good one? Cheers.

Sports cats are 200 cell iirc. Help with better flow but reduce the back pressure from the standard exhaust. I have a prospeed with 200 cell and it definately smoothed out the pull at 5250rpm. Performance increase is going to be very minimal tbh. A decat does sound better but that is imo and everyone is different. Also illegal due to emissions so not worth it.

The 182 has a sports cat as standard, the problem of it flopping is the crap joint between the cat and centre section, have a search for the "cat mod" and get that done

I had a full system from prospeed and the system made a great difference noise wise from stock. The problem being that the stock exhaust is very good from renault, just rusted to bits and a new one was double the price of prospeed. Some say prospeed are rubbish, others highly rate them. There are plenty of choices but cats i am not very sure of.
If you want more noise, try and get a yozza system from someone!lol. Better still an orbisound. Very expensive and rare but they do pop up for sale now and then.

Right I think i will. Is it a big job how much expected cost involved? Will this change the sound etc? Oh and can you give me details or pictures or point me to something maybe so I can show the people who'll be doing it? I've searched for threads but not found much. Cheers.

Oh and will a sports cat not make any difference then I mean if I bought a sports cat and had the cat mod done would that be any better than the standard cat and the cat mod if you get me? Cheers.

Not really a big job, if you know someone who can weld it will only cost you for the pipe, or if you took it to a exhaust place could not seeing it being more than about £50
Basically all you do is cut the joint off the cat to fit the new pipe and weld it on and then it becomes a sleeve joint onto the existing centre section.
Hope that makes sense

Does make sense. Do you think a better exhaust clamp would solve my problems too? A new one would that hold it tighter? If so what and where should I buy it?
