Clio 182 Knocking whilst dry steering

  Clio 182 FF
Ive been trying to diagnose this issue with my 182 Trophy for some time now without success. Basically as you are maneuvering the car (particularly dry steering but will do it at low speed steering too) where I will have successive knocks as im adding steering input, from 0 degree all the way to full lock! Ive replaced quite a bit of stuff to try and get rid of this knock and had no luck so far, google isnt being helpful either.

So far ive replaced;

- Both front wheel bearings
- Both bottom ball joints
- Both track rod ends
- Both top mount bearings
- O/S driveshaft

Every clio ive had (3 of them) have had some kind of un-findable knock and i just want to finally get to the bottom of this one. But thought id ask before changing the steering rack (ive done it before and hated nearly every minute of it so trying to avoid just doing it in an uneducated fashion).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mine would sometimes 'clang' from the spring rotating a little. I think the top mounts are such dog s**t on these that it could still be the top mount moving over enough for the strut to knock on the strut tower or for the bearing to bind up.

You don't seem to have mention the lower arm bushes, could the wishbone be moving on soft bushes and hitting the subframe?

If im honest, id never thought about the arm hitting the subframe, that could be a good thing to check. I didnt change the arm bushes because the arms dont look that old and the bushes still look decent, but im going to check anyways for peace of mind.
