Don't actually know this but thought I'd ask for a mate as I don't have a Clio anymore, but is it possible to adjust the timing on the 182 without taking the belts off etc? Mechanic says it can be done but may take a while but I was led to believe it was pretty much start from scratch.

Cheers.

Cool cheers Fred. Much appreciated. So if the car is idling badly and the timing is slightly out, it can be rectified without having to piss about changing the belts again?

yeah as long as the belt tension is ok just undo crank pulley (pin the crank in place first obviously!) undo inlet and exhaust pulleys with Renault pulley tool, horse shoe in, yada yada yada, done

You may need new bungs depending on your luck taking the old ones out.
So either be careful how you get them out, or have a set in stock ready.
