Clio 182 Turbo

Alright fellas ive been registered on the site for a while and havent posted anything yet so thought id say hello to you all. I drive a 182 cup Silver which i have had for 6 months now and lovin every minute drivin it. I am planning on getting a turbo conversion done and have found a specialist which will do this for around £6000 taking the little clio to the 250bhp range with a sub 5 second 0-60 time :D

Hoping to get this sorted at the start of the new year. Anyone here had this done or know of anyone with a conversion? Will definatley shock a few peeps in there BM's, porches etc when i come flying past them lol

  Shhh
Id just ask is it worth it.? With 250bhp through a front wheel car it maybe not worth it.

Dont know if there is a way to make the clio rear wheel drive, or even better four wheel drive. Id just buy a meganne 225, and work on that.

182 turbo sounds like a good idea but you come to the jc5 gearbox which you will need to uprate to get any reliability from it, ktec do a 172 conversion, as do BB tuning there examples are around 250bhp, but its alot of money for 70bhp £3500 you could have throttle bodies 225bhp and very good torque speak to yozza about this option

welcome matey. 182 turbo would be nice, but personally i would just get throttle bodies, cheaper, sound amazing and your car will still be quick. Would be a better for the front wheel drive car, unless you plan on getting a 4wd conversion too. mmmmm that would be cool

Nice and would be stonking when rolling, but I think sub5 0-60 in a fwd esp. with no LSD is pushing it.

i would supercharge a Mk2 V6, but then i can't afford one so im gonna get tb's for my cup, will be good enough for me! considering you can't drive fast at all anymore (not like i did anyway ;) )

Personally I'd recomend getting rid of the 182 engine and going to either a VAG 1.8T or a Megan 225 engines as they have better gearboxes and built for turboing.
Throttle bodies your looking at 210~220hp for any more your going to need cams and head work which pushes the bill to the prices close to a 1.8T transplant. The 1.8T will have more potential tunning capacity
A 1.8T transplant along with stand alone ECU (cheaper for remapping later) is about £6k excluding fitment so say another £2k for that.
Otherwise talk to j3ned on here he has a Mk2 pahse1 Clio with the VAG 1.8 T engine in for sale for £8k might be worth either swopping that to your car or just driving that plus thats got a LSD and 340hp.

  Golf GTI 1.8T
Volkwagen Audi Group?? Guess it's the 1.8T they use in the Golf's, Audi's ie. A3 and even more tuned in the Seat Cupra R. Very fast engine!

Yes that the one.

I thought the Megane 225 conversion wasnt a easy job due to having to mod the bulkhead cos of the gearbox among other things ???

Has this conversion been done before ??

Wasnt there meant to be someone on here who was developing a Laguna turbo engine transplant convo ??

Forget the 225 conversion - waste of time, you cant get the parts to do the conversion as 225's wrote off are very rare, so theres no donor cars about. The 182 turbo conversion will have you going through JC5 boxes every couple of months - there crap in the 172 / 182 never mind one with 250bhp + it will only get you into the mid 13's on the quarter mile - ive seen a williams with throttle bodies do a 13.4 and thats as fast as the BB or K tec clio. Personally i would contact GDi and get some advice of them.

a turbo would be very good but you will start to loose reliability. once you start shoving things like turbos into the engine thats when it all starts going wrong.

Best to get a used engine... and do all of your mods to that. Keep your original 182 engine wrapped-up warm just in case... (for the extra money, it's sensible).

J3ned can sell you a used 172/182 engine.

^^^LOL

Cheers for all the advice. Think i may have to look into this even more carefully than i was. Throttle Bodies seem like a good alternative option and cheaper so maybe thats a more realistic option

  172 gone :( 197 now :)
Have a look at k-tecs turbo'd car in redline this month.
I would say go for it if you have the money!
