Clio 197 and Corsa VXR

Had a little drive today with my mate in his Corsa VXR.

He has just returned from Thorney Motorsport after having a stage 3 conversion on his motor. It is now putting out 245bhp and 300lbft of torque.

Needless to say it left me standing!

Yeah, he is going for some 18" Pro Race 1.2's in black when it goes back in for more shizzle.

Not keen on red VXR's tbh, good results tho and nice 197 mate, dont normally like white ones as they tend to have black speedlines which spoil the car, white FTW!!

Being an ex-vauxhall man I love the VXR too, the power is a class above most others of the same price range. Especially when remapped. Both cars look very similar in shape and design though I think.

The turbo and the intercooler have been uprated. Its also got a panel filter and has been remapped. The exhaust is a 3" system with sports cat.

Corsa obviously has a power advantage but I wouldn't look twice at it, 197 looks great.

think its regal who have the 300bhp ones.

A number of the regal ones have blown up I think.

The car was detuned to 245bhp for reliability reasons.

As far as I know, Thorney work with Vauxhall and none of the modifications actually invalidate the manufacturers warranty.

Im not a big fan of the looks of the corsa but with that power id swap the clio in an instant.

I've seen a video of either a corsa or astra tuned by Regal. After they'd been done with it, somebody whipped the head off and you can jiggle the pistons in the bores, bad times.

Tis a lot of power from a 1600 -can't expect it to be without problems, still I wouldn't say no!
