clio 197 & rs200 bhp figures??

just wondered: If the clio 197 only makes between 175-181bhp as standard, does this mean the rs200 will only make 3 more bhp than what the 197 actually produces meaning the rs200 could actually have as little as 180bhp rather than the stated '200'?

your not getting my point at all! i know what bhp and ps is. What im saying is that they call it the 197/200 but realisticly they only make around 175-185 bhp

Same as the 172's though, they only make 160 ish

does it really matter? And yes the answer to ur question is it will probably only produce a few more than the 197. I bet if u ran them side by side in a straight line they would be identical!

ive owned both and alot of ppl say that there is no difference

there is, especially on a day to day drive the 200 feels like it has much more useable power although on paper it doesnt seem it.

not a massive difference obliviously. but definetly noticable!

dont know about going flat out toe 2 toe though if there would be much difference

I thought the claimed power for a RS197 was 197ps (194bhp)
I knew they didnt make book figures but didnt know it was as low 175+

I think the changes to the RS200 engine where more to aid drive ability than overall power, think the 200 develops more torque lower down the rev range?

yeah think peak torque is the same about 20% more thru the lower rev range

Not all 172s mate, some actually do make book power as standard. Mine's making 176bhp with just a ktec stealth cat back and the removal of the accoustic valve. Also more responsive than my previous 182 was.
