I thought the ZS was stunning looking from the rear 3/4 view. Great shape at the rear of the car. And, well, anything in that colour is win for me. Still miss Imperial Blue!

Have you seen one in the flesh? The font 3/4 view looks awful, up there with a bug eye impreza, looks like its had a stroke lol

Orange is fairly epic as well tbh:

Very nice in every angle tbh, but mark I wouldn't make a decision for a 5 yr plan til you have at least seen/driven the 4 RS!

this healthy competition will only speed up the release of a recaro'd storm grey Clio 200t with brembos.

These look like cracking cars.
The front end looks very Aston Martin, which is a ridiculous thing to say about a fiesta!

Id imagine 250bhp will be fairly easy to get from a basic map, and with some bolt on mods what, 280bhp? That'd be around 230-255bhp/ton. In a fiesta. Epic! I just hope they'll put the power down ok.

  Fiesta ST
As said 5 years is along time to keep the same car, I will be going for the 2 year option they offer which will give me the chance to own a 4RS with more options that are currently offered (hopefully) if I decide I want to change

Yeah the engine has been sent out for development for quite a while now.

In reality, cars like the Clio and the Fiesta are much of a muchness. There will be very little between them on the grand scale of things, its just down to personal preference. I would not be disappointing with either, however I have plumbed to go for the Clio because of the greater tech included with the car. I am looking forward to taking mine on track to play around with the box and mastering left foot braking.

Those dismissing the Clio because of its engine are mental, there are Jukes in the RS running over 300bhp easily. Its a jap engine... not french.

They aren't that much different?

You're definitely on drugs.

I agree. Power wise, ultimate spec wise, handling wise, they're as good as identical.

Price wise? They're leagues apart (driven by the technology I know).

Ability of the manufacturer to organise a pi** up in a brewery? Again, they're leagues apart. This is what's most convinced me to move away. Price changes following the press release. Release date changes. Dealers not having the first idea about what's going on or if they can take orders. Throw in a few road-tester doubts about the 'box, its speed of response, its strange ratios etc. and the ST was always in with a very firm shout.

For me, enough of a shout to say 'f*** you Renault' and to try another brand.

Do it. There's life after Renaultsport.

Word of warning though, some of the main franchise dealers are just as hopeless as anything with a Renault sign outside.

Are there many reputable 'specialists' out there Roy?

It's a Ford, dude. Specialists all over the place I would imagine. SCC Performance in St. Albans are mustard, and I happen to know that they already have a Fiesta ST development car in-house. They're also a Revo dealer ;)

So they're the same cars? But colour and badge are the only difference?

It's just a statement that could be applied to any 2 cars in the same sector anywhere, ie ridiculous.

Never said that did I, they are very different, but on tech sheets they are pretty much the same, around track they are going to be very close and on a day to day basis there is not going to be much to separate them. I personally think the Clio is streets ahead of the fiesta, the trick dampers and gearbox for starters. But if you look at specs such as interior equipment there's not really any defining features that sets them apart, they are both small shopping boxes with turbos bolted to them.

I'm willing to bet that the Fiesta will offer a better drive day-to-day overall. Modern Fords feel amazing even when just driving in a straight line to the shops. They've got their s**t down. Clio might offer a quicker lap time around the local industrial estate, and the gearbox will of course appeal to many.

Not sure which I would choose. Probably the Ford.

Does it not scare anyone that all of this technology, in a clio, will not end well?

Lets look at the history...

Keyless entry; Cards break, card readers fail, sensors randomly fall out of the doors on meganes.

TPMS; Permanent failure. iirc, dealers now offer a service to switch them off because they fail so often.

I'm not sure i'd be too confident with an electronic gear change, not to mention all of the tech in the new clio 4.

I'm happy to be proved wrong though.

I think the new dampers will help the clio, supple when needed but also good enough to keep it from wobbling about when you want some fun. Looking forward to driving it.

Renaults history is not gleaming is it, in fairness the box is built by someone else and all Renault had to do was map it.

Yes, it would scare me. More so as the asking price increases. They simply don't appear to put their cars through the same rigorous testing that everyone else does. They don't even endurance test steering wheels or seat trims. Or if they do, they ignore the results.
