when you filck on the ignition with the computer trip button held in and all the needles go haywire with the pinging noise etc, what actually is the point of this? is it some kind of diagnostic thing for the speedo etc? if so, does anyone know what the readouts should be etc?

As long as everything lights up and works its fine. More of a novelty than anything else.
