Clio engine help

  Bmw M4 & Clio 16v

I would like to buy a clio 16v, have found a cheap one but with 105,000 miles on it. I want to turn the car into a project car and heavily tune the engine maybe even turbo it? would i be better off using a car with far fewer miles or just replacing all the head etc on this one?

Could someone give me some advice??? what would I need to get a mint engine to tune up?

The bottom ends on F7P/R series engines are as tough as old boots. Id be very happy to buy a 16V with 105k on the clock - knowing that some of the fastest and most powerful Valvers (BenJ, AaaronC, mine:oops:) all have over 100k on the clock. For every horror story of high mileage Valvers theres another positive one.

But these engines dont respond that well to conventional tuning. Head/cams etc dont give massive gains and throttle bodies are still largely untested. The BB Tuning turbo seems to give the best power/torque of any mods and is well respected - but comes at a big cost. See http://www.bbperformancetuning.co.ukwww.bbperformancetuning.co.uk.

if you want to tune the car, dont buy a clio. Get something with a K-series Rover for small power, a ford duratec for more or a vauxhall lump. Tuning a clio in the UK is not easy.

When BB turbo the 16v they virtually rebuild the entire engine anyway, because they have to upgrade a lot of stuff to take all the extra stress. So 105k doesnt really matter if its going to be rebuilt. As long as the body is in good condition then the engine wont be a problem if you go that route.

dont get a NEW clio......the F7 based engine is fine....you can get TBs, cams, head work bits and bobs...anything you want really.
