Clio engine management light ?

Hi. Obviosly im new on here. Bought my new car last night and brought it back from Peterbourgh. On the way back I noticed something strange. Every time I gave it a bit of a bootfull on the motorway an orange light would come on on the dash.

It is the coil light that comes on with all deisels to pre-heat before you start the car. There is a symbol above it that looks like a heatbeat monitor at the hospital.

Anyone know what this means ? Have I bought a bomb ?

Oh, incase it helps I have a DCi 100 ?

That is the electric warning light. Its been coming on on my mk2ph2. Does it limt your engine I get a massive power drop. Like doesnt want to go past 2,000 revs!

Yes, the power drops off. I wouldnt say the drop is massive, but noticable !

Happens at higher speeds, and when under load.

The guy in the garage just told me there were no fault codes on there and the ones that are had no date attached to them. He also said that the glow plugs come on during operation. Thats gotta be b**locks right ?

Get him to clar the faul codes and then either drive round with a computer on the car see whats being thrwon might just be electrics getting wet.

he is partialy right the plugs cna stay on there a variables conditions for how long they come on after starting.

Sounds more likly the EGR valve neds cleaning .

sounds like your oxygen sensor, there are 2 one on your cat and an upstream one. had the same problem with mine would go above 2000 revs and managemnt light was on.costs about £100 to get it fixed.
