Clio-friendly insurance companies?

Car  Clio 172 Cup
Can anyone recommend a good company to speak to for insurance quotes for a 172?

Ive tried Adrian Flux and another one of the specialist brokers but they both came back quite expensive. Ironically, Tesco via Compare The Meerkat is actually the best one I've had so far.

The car is a daily driver so I need plenty of mileage allowance, commuting cover etc. Slight issue is I've yet to sell my previous car, so while I've got 7+ years NCB a lot of companies won't let me mirror it over from that policy.

Cheers gents.

Will give Greenlight (and others) a call tomorrow.

Debating whether to just lay the Clio up for a few weeks until I've sold my current car and I can transfer the NCB. Don't really want to do that with my new toy, though.

Alas, Tesco it is!

Only just, though. My previous quote was valid, but I phone up to point out I'd actually held my driver's licence a year longer than originally stated and the price went up by £50! Apparently it was nothing to do with the changing circumstances, but it just fluctuates from day-to-day and the changes had invalidated the previous quote. What's more, if it takes me more than 30 days to sell my other car and transfer the no claims bonus across I'm told there's an admin fee of about the same again. Cheeky gits. Still the cheapest by some margin, however.

Did you try to negotiate with Greenlight at all?

Brokers seem to have more leeway.

I phone up RCIB and got them down from an automatic quote of £3600 to £650 by a bit of flattery and telling them their quote was ridiculous.

I had a good chat with the guy at Greenlight (not Neil who posted above but one of his colleagues). Quote was reasonably competitive and they were good to deal with, but still some way off Tesco. He basically said they tend to come into their own with modified cars or low mileage second car policies, but mine's neither.
