clio from netherlands

  172 EXCLUSIVE
a mate bought and 02 172 about three weeks ago from Reg Vardy Ford in Reading.

when i saw it i suspected it was an import. On their own company check list it says its not an import so we checked it through renault cust serv and i was right!

I told him to take it back and ask for his money back.

Is he within his rights to do this, its misrepresentation isn't it?

  182 has now gone!
I had a similar thing. I got my clio not from a renault dealer a year ago. I found out about 4 months ago it was bought from the factory direct (hasnt got an alarm, window etchings or locking wheel nuts) so I am in a simliar situation. Dont think the garage would do much about it though, worth a try?

Thanks mate, any one else??

  MK2 172
So does it have a Cat 1 alarm and locking wheel nuts? If not go back and demand they fit these as they all come as standard on a UK spec 172.

  172 cup'd extreme
the ones from the netherlands have different pedals that were designed for clog wearing tulip sniffing pot heads your mate will have to have the pedals changed also to meet uk spec

I think you have a good case....if it was knowingly sold as a UK car and was an import then that's not good at all.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with imports but you want to know exactly what you are buying don't you.

  MERCEDES CLS AMG
Thing is with imports they can actually be UK desined cars which have been brought to the UK by an independent dealer. If the oval plate number has either a 0/ .....53/ .....5/ it is a UK vehicle. At the end of the day all our Renaults have been imported so wether it be officially through a main dealer that charges you more for your new car, are an independant importer that will save you a fortune - it doesnt really matter.
