hi everyone,
ok, im a newbie here and need a little help. first time ive had trouble with my clio in 2 years of ownership. its a 51 plate 1.2 16v dynamique.
anyway, was merrily driving along a back country road this evening at about 35-40mph and swerved to miss a rabbit (stupid i know) and went down a pot hole with quite a bang. infact it was rather deep hole and how i missed it i dont know.
anyway, as i bounced back out of it the the STOP and SERV light came on briefly along with the ABS light and the engine sounded as though it was sturggling to keep revs. after about 1/2 secs they went out again and everything seemed fine. or it did until i went to change gear, the gear stick was wobbling about all OVER the place. after managing to make it home i had a quick look under the bonnet.
i can see the lower gearbox mount but the front bolt which bolts actually into the gearbox itself is exposed. its like the part it bolts into has gone, as if it has sheared off. if i get someone to move the gear lever back and forth the whole engine and gearbox will wobble forward and back. just incase anyone is wondering, im referring to this:

Basically it seems the bolt at the top left of the picture has nothing to bolt into anymore!! Have i really damaged the car, am I looking at a gearbox or what?? It seems to drive completely fine, well, back to my house anyway even though the gear lever is wobbling around like mad.
Any help or suggestions would be welcome at this point.
