clio mk 2 172 lights fitted to mk1??

ive seen a couple of mk 172's with mk 2 rear clusters, so i picked some up cheap but when i plug them in and brake, the reverse lights come on and when i indicate the brake lights come on, how is it done ppl, cheers.
