Clio Mk1 Brake upgrade

After a couple of trips this week down south and midlands, i decided i really have to upgrade the brakes as they are pants!

Just coming back from manchester today and let the car cool on the drive and came back out a good 20-30mins later and the brakes were red hot, and considering they werent used too heavly, i should upgrade them.

What are my options?

Would really love a BBK to be affordable second hand. Any chance of that?

Also, i know you can upgrade the discs and pads, has anybody noticed a big enough difference in stopping power etc? Also, what brands shall i go for?

What mk1 clio do you have? 1.2, 1.4, 1.8 or 2.0?

Put some 1.8/20 vented discs with their calipers on the front, big big difference!
