Clio mk1 ph2 engine conversion

Hello i have a 1997 clio mk1 phase 2 and i was just wondering if i could put in a clio f16ie 1.8 16v engine ,i have lots of the bits that came with the engine such as the wiring loom, ecu, dashboard, steering wheel and boss, subfame with powersteering rack on , and more. Just wondering if anybody on here has done it and how hard would it be, and would it actually fit, The f16ie engine mounts look as though there in the same place as my clio aswell.

any help would be reall appreciated.

most mk1 conversions on here are from the 1.8 to the 2.0 willy engine i believe.

Isnt it the same shell anwyays, so should be a straight swap as long as you know what your doing.

Right, A few people have told me the shells are the same but just wanted to make sure, also could i use my 1.2 gearbox and driveshafts or will i have to fork out for 1.8 box and shafts

Yes but the box won't last long use the correct shafts and hubs and brakes and gearbox IMo for simplicity sake.

It will fit yep mounts are the same entc wire the engine up stand alone etc and your off its a good idea if it weren't for a 172 engines conversions being so cheap and more powerful out the box it would be done more.
