Clio mk3 misfire advice needed

Hi, I have a clio mk3 2006 1.4 and it has a misfire it seems to lose power and splutter also the engine management light flashes on and off.
The strange thing is that it seems to do this on and off, for 10 mins it drives fine then the next 10 mins it starts misfiring again also I smell a funny egg smell sometimes when it's misfiring.
i am hoping you could shed some light on what's going on I have used google and a lot of people say it could be the coil pencils need replacing or could it be anything else ?

Rotten egg smell is usually the cat. Get it looked at ASAP.

Misfire could be a clogged cat, lambda sensor, plugs, leads, coils.

Needs plugging into a decent diagnostic machine. It may help with diagnosing exactly what it is.

Spark plugs, Coils, Leads, a diagnostic machine will tell you what cylinder is not sparking

It'll most likely be a coil on the 1.4 16v

Thanks all for your replys I have replaced the coil pencils and it seems it has sorted it out, one had a lot of water in one of the holes anyway problem solved now I hope.
