  Clio

Right i have an 1.2 16v dynamiquie i have done 7 k so far and i have noticed the front tread is going quicker than a big mac at rick wallers house ..

shall need too swap the front with the back at 10k

is that normal ??? as this is my first car ive owend from new and as all my old cars i never kept long enough to notice tyer wear

cheers T3Z .........

  Renault Laguna Coupe

If youre driving it as it should be driven that sounds ok.. try harder next time, with practice you should be able to get it down to 6k for the fronts.. :devilish:

  Clio

lol cheers mike

i have 9 points so i do take it easy but somtimes i can push it thou the corners . tis fun !!!!!!!!! for a 1.2 its impressive

yup my old record for my dynamique was 5.5k miles to rid myself of the contis, the toyos lasted over 8k whe the car finally met its timely demise

then again, i have a very unique driving style (30mpg from a 1.2 16v over 12k mles)

  Clio

yup looks like ill be getting some toyos next year then .. if they lasted 8k 4 u there gonna last 10k for me easy . lol

I wouldnt do the Swapping thing, just Change out the Front 2 wheels, if you swap front to back theres a good chance youll have to change all 4 at once.

Make sure you get your alignment checked as well as that can really cause tyres to wear faster.

After 7k does sound abit early, but it does depend on how you drive :)

You should always put your best tyres on the back... best just to buy 2 new tyres !

  don't

im replacing 2 of my front tyres this weekend

the treat is fine apart from on the insides of both front tyres, really worn down just on insides, so whats caused this??

bad alignment??

waste of 2 tyres really as the rest of the tread was ok :-(

isit tracking or alignment i need sorting or what??

My contis lasted 8,800 miles on the front which is crap basically. I replaced all 4 with Toyo Proxies 195/50/R15 with a tradwear of 280 compared to the tradware of 80 on the contis. Cost £180 all in and 23 quid for tracking. You will probably find that 185/55/R15 are rare and cost alot of money - £78 per tyre for more contis or perrelis but they both last five mins and you might as well get four for that price and they will last a lot longer and look better.

how the hell have you done that in a 1.2 so quickly?

I drive very hard in my 182 and the tyres are still ok at 12k miles. I have done 2 trackdays with some hard driving and lots of tyre squeal and a few laps of the Nurburgring so I have given it a lot of stick.

They still have a couple of thousand left in them. There must be something wrong with your tracking or they are sh1t tyres for wear.

I think i only got about 8k miles out of my original Continental PremiumContacts. Though they were subject to some abuse. When i swapped to SportContacts i got about 20k out of them! Dont know why, youd presume the performance tyres would be softer.

cheers for the help guys

by the looks of this thread these contis have lasted well then . lol

need some better tyers me thinks

dont really drive it hard but the litte 1.2 is in 24 hour use as i work nights and my mum uses it in the daytime always being pushed up and down the motorway on weekends to vist famliy or shows .

it serves me well .

think i might change all 4 now i think about it

  Ford Fiesta

on my dynamique the fronts were still going from new after 24K miles, I did right it off in the wet winter though so prob could have been changed a little earlier.

Mine have at least 6mm on them and I have 16800 on the car, the same for the last Dynamique.

Also why put the best tyres on the back as someone said? The front do all the work - drive, cornering, brake effort?????

GONNA ORDER SOME NEW TYERS NEXT MONTH ALL 4 ME THINKS

SAYING THAT I MIGHT TRY AND GET HOLD OF SOME CUP RIMS :D

  Clio

? wtf is wrong with ma car then i NEVER wheelspin and its a 1.2 they shouldnt even be close to half the tread gone yet ??? im gonna take em off in a bit an have a look at em proply but as far as i can see the fronts are wearing evenly ? shocking unless 172/182 have much better tyers from the factory

  Yaris Hybrid

Where are they worn? Outside of the front left primarily? Thats roundabouts.

The sports contacts on my 1.2 were knackered after 8k. My mates premium contacts went in the same time period. The front left was the worse in both cases. I dont rate the Continentals.

The front Michelin Pilots on my Veccy lasted 30k and the rears still looked new!!

yup the front left is the worst an i am a suker 4 not bothering to brake at islands . lol

the majority of you think this is normal then ?

  K20 EG Hatch

yeah thats normal mate, unless it has been crashed i wouldnt worry bout trackin to much unles it is obviously out.

The front left on the outside will be worn more cuz u have been slidin it rounds islands int ya!i mean understeering it?

  Yaris Hybrid

Yeah mate, normal. Put some Michelins on it and dont go fast round corners. Should last ages but will be boring.

Alternatively you could put some 35 quid cheap crappy tyres on and give it a good hammering.

  Fiat Coupe 20v turbo

My Toyos never last more than 9-10k and I dont hammer them that much:oops:, might try some Gyear or Michelins next time round...see if they last better..

  Clio

yep cheers lads might go for toyos or michilins next should get another 1000 miles out of em that should take it to 8 k (ive only had the fecking thing since april 30th)

and youre right i do slide it round islands as in a 1.2 ITS THE ONLY WAY I CAN KEEP UP WITH MA MATES 1.6 MINI ONE . lol

can i suggest to never swap worn front tyres to rears, when driving in the wet (and going by the majority of people here we like to hammer it round corners) the rear end of your car will have no grip as this is following the front so you will spin your car easy, not a good idea on busy roundabouts
