Hi mate,

The only difference in the wishbones is the cup and late ph2 ones run more castor, straight swap over though.

As for the other differences I'm sure theres a thread somewhere but the basics other than the obvious asthetics are :

ph1 has longer gearing
ph1 has cable throttle body, ph2 is fly by wire (fbw)
ph2 (other than cup) has xenons and climate control
some ph2 have traction control
ph1 has a twin barrel cat rather than the single one used by ph2

A few other things but thats the gist of it.

Yeah I should've kept that shorter really, ignore all that this is all you need to know - Ph1s are better.

lol cheers just wanted to know as its my first clio lol and i do agree they look miles better.
with more castor does that afect any thing on the front end?.so i take it the ph2 172 and 182s are the same just diff engine.
need to build my knowledge on them

Difference between a 172 and a 182 engine is naff all really, different exhaust manifold and very slightly different rocker cover.

They dont make 10bhp more.

All mk2 2.0 Clios are F4R, the ph1 has bigger inlet valves, the 182 has a different manifold and all have different inlet manifolds.

The later ones have more castor so that means a touch more stabilty and a touch more camber when cornering so you can run less camber static for better grip. One of those mods that I won't do until I was replacing the wishbones anyway.

Have a read of various threads, a lot of knowledge on here so plenty to research!

Ph1 and ph2 manifolds are 4-1 and the 182 is 4-2-1.

Speaking from experience its not worth changing them. You gain a little more torque down low and a lose a little up top but not enough to notice. Unless you're comparing it to a previous RR graph.

I couldn't upgrade to a cup. I'd just look around at the interior wondering how I managed to end up in exactly the same car I had before.
