Clio road rally

  Seat Leon
looking at getting a Clio 172 to road rally but I don't know what they're like for road rallying. I know they're a bit low but I was going to stick gaz gold coilovers to raise it. Is there anything else that needs attending to to ensure its reliable??

Mine was great, I just find road rallies too rough nowadays.

I've still got all my stuff to bolt back on if I decide to play down the lanes.
Standard cup suspension was good enough, just used yellowstuff pads, big sumpguard and I've got a separate bumper with the spotlights on.
15" wheels and gravel tyres fit fine with no real catching with the advantage of those picking up the height a bit.

They look pretty good to me, given this got back on all fours and Ian then continued the rally :);

I was going to fit Gaz Gold Coilovers which would allow me to raise the ride height. I've had others say the clio suspension is good enough but I would like more ground clearance. Would diesel springs give a higher ride height or not?

What are the gearboxes/driveshafts like when given some stick? The engine would be standard-ish.

Something tells me that the clio will be very popular in road rallies in the years to come..
I dont know how the 22mm piston copes on the gaz, if you need to revalve them, how expensive is servicing them etc.
If it is for the ocassional blast i guess they will be fine. Otherwise have a look on used proflex they are cost effective for what they offer.
Have a look on the French sites to get ideas from the grN cars.

We are in the same boat lol.
