Clio RS vs CTR - which is fastest

Am looking to change the car soon and am interested in a CTR or 182 ideally.

I know the CTR wins for reliability/build quality but which is the fastest and most fun to drive?

Im asking on here as i know a few people would have driven both so could make some good conclusions

Cheers

This old chesnut

Go to dealers and test drive both then make your mind up.

Look out for the insurance though.....IIRC Type R is group 17;)

If you believe what you see on Fifth Gear then the CTR is faster, but only just. That doesn't mean its more fun though.

I thought the 182 / 172 was 17 as well?!

Seriously though do a search on this subject!

you'll be lucky. lets face it, this topic will never end. someone new will always come along and ask the inevitable question:dead:

p.s agree with the above. they're the same...ish

I test drove both, chose the Clio, i reckon you should do that too rather than asking whats anothers opinion.

btw like the colour of extreme ;)

cheers. I prefer liquid yellow ;) . if u ever wanna sell your car pm me with the details cuz well........ i love liquid yellow 182's

Best thing about the clio RS is your least likely to get dragged out at lights. People f**king steal type Rs for fun, Id say they are a better car i have driven a type S and that was qucik, handles really well.

a man after my own heart!!! stunning colour.. the only other colour that comes close is flame red!

The clio has lower down torque than the CTR making it better to potter around town as it does seem to pick up quite nice in any gear. I nearly bought a Accord Type-R but I didnt like the fact that you had to rev the balls off it it get it going. Once it was going it did feel a bit quicker than the clio but its all top end which is not my cup of tea.

If you intend to mod the car then Id go for a Honda as the K-pro remap is meant to make a big difference. You get 30-40 bhp mid range increase with a 10 bhp top end but it will cost about £900 for it.

If you want a standard car and have a bit of change left over then Id get a clio but you do need to test drive both cars first.

If you

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

sorry, *cough*, I just cant take it... must... not ... comment....

web based sarcasm building, building, building, building!

lol at the search comments, any body used this feature with the site in its current state?!

w**k lol

seriously there is f**k all in it speed wise (172/182cup anyway, 171bhp/ton, a mk2 172 has 154bhp/ton)

each one i have encountered is nip and tuck

I thought 172s & 182s were 16 and the cup was 17 due to the severity of the dangers involved with no abs and TC

Theres a 784 page article somewhere on the web that has all the arguments re. RS v CTR but it's summarised on p784 with a heading "who gives a damn" :rasp:

die thread die, go to hell and die, never raise your thread title on CS ever again!! DIEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you

My dad was looking at getting an accord type-r a few years ago and i remember going on the test drive and the noise that engine made was astonishing. It just felt special with the acceleration getting faster and faster the more the revs built.

My best mate has a ctr and iv got a 172, in reality 0-60 goes to the clio, after that the ctr has the edge.
Handling though, the clio will piss all over it.

good luck to get insurance on the ctr if your under 21 and you will be paying over £1100 a year, the 182 half the insurance.
I had a ctr before the 182 and in performance nothing in it, if you want fun factor get the clio.
Good luck choosing your new car

either are good but after all these threads one thing has become ever more apparent.. the CTR is Seriously common as fuk, any age, any earning power, there bloody everywhere and theres not many colours they all look dull and dreary.

just get the clio182 in petrol blue and see how many you see of those around !
