Clio RT

Hi all,

Just wanted to run some questions by those people in the know. Im thinking about buying a 96 (n) 1.4RT with 77k on the clock. Its black with partial service history. Just wondered what the reliability would be like on this and if any big bills should be coming my way. Also what should i be paying for this?

Thanks,

KB

If it is a phase 3 i can vouch that they are really reliable cars lovely to drive too

shouldnt be any big bills i wouldnt have thought not sure what you mean tho?

well i bought my N reg RT for £1550 cos i got £100 knocked off so anywhere around that price really

depends on the condition although it has done good mileage so should all be ok

just check over it when you buy it

vix :)

Make sure the cambelt has been done !! As powelly says the phase 3s are really good !! When was the partial SH ?? Has it been serviced recently ?? Id offer £1400 - 1500

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replies. The service history is for the past few years (6 i think) with the current owner. So hopefully the cambelt has been done. Not sure if its a phase 3 or not. All i know is its a 96 N

Thanks

does it have girly headlights or square ones? hehe

phase 3s have more rounded headlights

should all be good tho matey especially as it has been serviced for the last few years

Well I have a mk1, been perfect until halfway through last year, its been going wrong ever since, getting rid next year as its begining to cost more than its worth, well I say getting rid. What I actually mean is keeping it as a toy car and making it into a r5 turbo powered shell.

Hi,

Found out that the cambelt was done a long time ago and not since, when do these things need changing? and how much would i be looking at to do it?

Also would this be a mark one at 1996 (N) or likely to be a 2 or 3?

Thanks

not sure how much it would be tbh

Its a mark one just either a phase 2 or 3 wouldnt know without seeing it im afraid

its right on the over lap year when they brought out the phaselift

vix :)

They look square so guessing its a phase 2 then

Not sure about this cambelt thing, does it need changing at 77k sounds like does.

It should have been changed recently, if it hasnt defo get it done. Probably best to do it anyway, its only a small engine so its easier to change than the williams or valver.

needs doing every 72 k but its reccomended that you change it every 36k so probably does need one !! They are about £160 to have done IIRC

Oh mines a mk1 ph1. Apparantly they are really bad, when they go they go apparantly. But also phase 2 and then again with 3 they are supposed to be a lot better.
