Just wanted to run some questions by those people in the know. Im thinking about buying a 96 1.4RT with 77k on the clock. Its black with partial service history. Just wondered what the reliability would be like on this and if any big bills should be coming my way. Also what should i be paying for this?
Make sure the cambelt has been done !! As powelly says the phase 3s are really good !! When was the partial SH ?? Has it been serviced recently ?? Id offer £1400 - 1500
Thanks for the replies. The service history is for the past few years (6 i think) with the current owner. So hopefully the cambelt has been done. Not sure if its a phase 3 or not. All i know is its a 96 N
Well I have a mk1, been perfect until halfway through last year, its been going wrong ever since, getting rid next year as its begining to cost more than its worth, well I say getting rid. What I actually mean is keeping it as a toy car and making it into a r5 turbo powered shell.
It should have been changed recently, if it hasnt defo get it done. Probably best to do it anyway, its only a small engine so its easier to change than the williams or valver.
Oh mines a mk1 ph1. Apparantly they are really bad, when they go they go apparantly. But also phase 2 and then again with 3 they are supposed to be a lot better.
