Clio Sport 182

Ok, yeah I'll be honest and admit I'm not the most technical / knowledgable about cars.
My exhaust isn't sitting central anymore, it would appear the black rubbers have eroded, gone what ever that holds it in place.
I have been told I need the following :
"Gasket / Fitting Kit Down pipe - Catalyst" - anyone recommend some places for this ( as I don't know exactly what this it )
& also "Rear Box section dual exit" which I have been quoted £425.00
The user @cleo is a friend of mine, who is helping me at the minute but just want to get some advice people.
Thanks.

The fitting kit would need to be replaced if you are changing the exhaust. What exhaust have they quoted you £425.00 quid for, if it's the original Renualt one it's a waste of money. You can get a full stainless system for less, it'll last longer and look better.

If the exhaust isn't lined up properly it is likely to be the rear exhaust mounts, you can replace these order from Adam at Renualt Wolverhampton on here, or you can get some of these to replace the rubbers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Powerflex...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item418702b502 or you can go full cheapo and prop the perished rubbers with some sockets.

I would be asking them exactly what the problem is... who have you taken it to?

I believe it's a stainless steel one I have, and it's possible cobra, as the place I went to is called exhaustUK and they deal with cobra exhausts?

It sounds like its £425 just for the exhaust boxes as the guys were saying the Middle of the exhaust is ok.

I used something similar to the rubbers last time ( think it was skoda or ford rubbers last time )

Sounds to me like someone is pulling a fast one. Get under the car and check the rubber in the exhaust mounts. They are made of cheese and fall apart causing the pipes to not sit correctly. Mine were both recently replaced but I still had to reinforce them to get the rear box positioned the way I wanted. Crap design if you ask me.

As above, sounds like someone is just trying to convince you to spend money with them.

If your exhaust isn't blowing, and is faulty isn't any manner other than sitting funny, then it just needs new rear mounts most likely.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I've dropped it off this morning at a Renault specialists ( J S Services ) based in Rotherham, will find out what they suggest.

Just had a phone call, they have mentioned a need a down pipe ( as the current one has rusted ) and I need x2 rear mounting brackets.
Thanks guys, looks like I don't need the duel exits as previously told - well maybe I don't need them yet anyways.

Exhaust certainly looks better in the central position now.
I got to admit, I don't know where / what the down pipe is, but it's cost a lot less then I was quoted
I didn't know, the exhaust boxes are 2 skins ( does that sound right :-/ ) but he's told me I shouldnt need them replacing

[/IMG] Sorry to hijack can anyone tell me if there should be a seal or a gasket on here? Have replaced the cool pack, put back together and it's over revving, suspecting an air leak or a dislodged air sensor <a href="http://s150.photobucket.com/user/mikes1471/media/Mobile Uploads/image.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s117/mikes1471/Mobile Uploads/image.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo image.jpg"/></a>

Gets better & better :(
Car has been producing a loud whirring noise upon starting, at the same time I've seen the Orange Triangle which shows a car skidding ( think it's the ASR light ), and sometimes when doing full lock it's produced a similar noise ( no light though ).
Just been told its going to cost about £350 to sort ( including parts / labour / tax ).
With not being knowledgable, i can't explain it, but it sounds like something has collapsed, which is rubbing on the belt ( unsure which belt ) but if it ends up snapping then it's going to do more damage - damn!
