Clio Trophy revving itself then gone into limp mode

Drove home tonight and the Trophy started to rev itself to around 3 - 3.5k on its own accord and the revs would only drop when changing gear. The problem went away and then came back, only to then display the orange dash light and enter limp mode. Car starts, seems to run fairly smoothly, just won't rev above 3k now due to limp mode.

Any ideas on the possible cause before I start taking bits off?

Possibly a stuck throttle body?

That or a vacuum has popped off and air getting in the inlet?

The car starts but idles at 3k and cannot see any pipes off, etc. Will disconnect the battery and remove the throttle and see if that cures it.

Throttle body is pooped. Second hand ones arnt too expensive

I think your right, a quick play around this morning and it seems ok for now. Will get a second hand throttle and keep a spare.
