I understand he was, but I don't know how police can go about using videos on the internet, and going "yeah erm, it sounds fast, you went past another car, we measured it even though we have no way of knowing if the video is 100% legit" and just simply banning people.. is it not possible to speed a video up no? or to add a different sound track? no?

ffs, I give up lol

So if I murder my girlfriend, but you cant see my stabbing her on the video, so you can,t prove its me, and its posted on youtube, under my account, and the original is found on my computer, then clearly It can't be proved I did it.

it was well down on power mate....so wasnt quite as quick as it should have been ;)

but hey....it wasnt on the road......so cant get nabbed off the cs police.........lol.

but then......i never......ever......ever drive like that on the road hehe.

Did the rust bug make it lighter?

;)

This guy needs to be banned from driving like a mad man.

Weeman, you sound like a weasley 7stone scrot bag that thinks he knows it all tbh. I'm making very valid points and you're trying to laugh them off without coming up with a good comeback for it.

Pmsl, No good comeback, you havn't read much of this thread have you.

Good on you for the weasly 7 stone grot bag comment though, proof indeed that the under educated result to nothing more than an attempt at personal insults when all is fails. well done.

I was expecting some daft overtaking or something there, not booting it down a straight road!

FFS, I'm sure the police have seen videos similar to the one in that link before, and know that an RS4 is quick, and really aren't that stupid. If they wanna do you, then they will find a way, with evidence like that especially.

I give up too, I'm just saying that link is proof that you can get done from uploading a video of racing/driving fast on public roads.

So non of my previous comments make sense to you then?

They do, completely, but you're ignoring my point.

Look at the video I posted... Is that car really 1000bhp?

Is it really making that noise and going that fast? Or is it just some brain donor that knows how to work windows movie maker who's bored and bigging himself up on some ford forums?

What's hard to believe?

Anything can be done, not discounting that, But you can get caught and people do get caught, thats the original point, wether or not you can see a number plate, or a speedo, theres a way you can be prosecuted. You would need to produce an accredited expert, who would have to offer his impartial view on wether or not it has been sped up etc for you to get off, i doubt a "i sped it up" would wash in court after all " i didn't do it" hardly gets people off guilty charges does it if the evidence is not there to support your claim.

Yeah, speeding is only one element but should the Police deem the driving dangerous (racing) then it doesn't matter what the speed is, or indeed if the video has been sped up.

Yup, the guy in the link got done for racing on a public road not speeding.

I know people can (and do) get caught for this stuff, it's happened hundreds of times and been reported in newspapers almost every time it does..

But he's innocent til proven guity at the end of the day..

Just in case you didn't realise the guy with the ED30 is on this forum...old school member who used to have a jap car with a name to match. Can't believe it is him but in all honesty he posted a vid of his m8's V6 racing a DC2 and everyone loved it...weird

This thread makes me realise just how pathetic Cliosport can be sometimes, 6 pages and over 100 commments arguing over a stupid Youtube video.

Havent seen the vid, shame as I wanted to!

Jesus, why don't the CS police get back to their knitting?

Don't be such hypocrites and act like you have never raced someone or exceeded the speed limit on a public road! Big deal he posted it on the net, that's his look out if he gets caught! Proof that the police have nothing better to do if they are pissing about on youtube!

As for it encouraging others to break the law, drive dangerously etc etc, it's safe to assume they have already done the same if they are on a hot hatch forum and if they are really that impressionable they are going to get ideas from somewhere else!

Oh and if you're wondering why more people don't do trackdays it's because they are f*cking expensive and seeing as most of us get bum raped over road tax and yet the local councils never fix any pot holes etc we might aswell get our moneys worth! ;)

whats with all the keyboard warriors then ? police have absolutly no proof as to the speed that was being done, and its BASICALLY an impossibility of getting prosecuted for these, they're not going to f**k around tracking down i.p addresses. lets be honest. stop being so PC and have some godamn fun.

;)

yes mate it did....the non rusty 1 is too precious now to take the track abuse....which is why i bought thae track 1....lightweight....hehe

at least its taken 14 years to show tho........unlike the newer supposedly better clios, showing signs of rust after a few months isnt good....reno really have lost it with the clios ;)

i mean.they even thought it a good idea to make some ltd editions a foul baked bean colour ;) wtf that all about??

But does that prove that HE was driving??

Owner of a vehicle is responsible for advising the police who was driving at the time. Just the same as if your car goes through a speed camera and your not driving. Its your responsibility to advise who was, or take the points yourself.

So his IP address would be traced, if anyone cared to bother..

OK you you DEFINATELY put that video up of YOU driving.

How was it me driving?

Er.. cause you said it was

I was lying

OK then sorry bai

Doesnt matter if he was driving or not, his car is speeding, he's responsible for identifying the driver

My point was there are people who will judge this guy then do exactly the same themselfs but not post it. He has hardly commited crime of the century, he's speeding on an empty road, 90% of people on this site would do that.

I think the filming part is the main issue...but if he was doing this at rush hour past a school then I could understand the barrage of abuse but I think the CS police take this too far, only reading the posts just to post some moral bs. Also I think the main reason for there being more of these stories than track stories is obviously because people are driving their cars everyday, running into little blasts like these but aren't going to be on a trackday everyday. I don't imagine there being many cars/people on here who haven't had a blast like this during their years of driving...maybe if the op was a more well know poster he would have received a little less s**t...imo of course

Chris

Could not agree more. I find it funny that the same people criticising are the very same people who say they would and have done the same on the autobahn. Why's it any different? Racing is racing and it's illegal however you look at it.

If conditions are right and there are little to no other road users then who cares? I'm sure if Lee was a moderator racing down the autobahn where racing is still illegal it would be justifiable by the hypocritcal hangers on.

Just for poops and gigs

they are ace little things, I had one as a hire car when I came over here, raced a mates 166 alfa back from brussels airport at an indictated 120 mph, next morning it was sat on my drive in a huge pool of oil, lol

Done anything good today?

Best part for me was my and my Dad having a race across Yorkshire. Him in the Rangerover Sport and me in the Terrano van. It wasn't the worlds fastest blast but f**k me was it fun. Trying to string corners together doing silly speeds in 4x4's is just a giggle. Just shows you don't need good drivers cars to have fun.

None of the above sound like any tracks were involved?
Just remember there is a search feature before you all start with the holier than thou nonsense.

If you'll read the thread properly, you will see that on more than one occasion I do not deny driving like that, primarily I objected to it being video'd for two reasons, it may get the OP in trouble, and it encourages others to do the same.

Do you drive around constantly with a camera on in the car, or film your spirited drives?? Or did the OP go out with camera looking for someone to find??? If its not slightly worrying why has the video been removed by the OP?

FYI doing silly speeds on the autobahn if its de restricted is legal, however it has to be done safely, If you are caught tailgating, undertaking etc etc, you can still be locked up for dangerous driving. And being passed at 140 mph by a fat german in a E55 mercedes, and continuing to do 140 mph, while he dissapears away is not racing, that my friend is the de-restricted autobahn.

This video, clearly showed (as it was being filmed) that he set off purposefully to catch the porsche, if he had simply been popping to tesco's for a pint of milk, i doubt it would of been video'd.

Yes speeding down the road back from Brussels is also stupid as being caught at 105 mph not liong after that once got me a 500 quid fine and 2 weeks of no license, That was ten years ago now. Since that day I amended my ways, making mistakes is a great way of learning. Its also worth pointing out, that on that road and other motorways there are not round abouts, that people can suddenly appear from.

I have learnt over time, that this type of driving on public roads, can often and will often end up getting people into trouble or leading to an accident. No one here is trying to preach or be a hypocrite, merely pass on some of the experiences they have had, to the younger members of this forum. But should people choose to ignore this advice then fine, by all means carry on.
