NEED SOME ADVICE PLS! DOES THE ENGINE HAVE TO COME OUT AT 50,000 MILES? IS IT A BAD IDEA TO HAVE ONE AS AN EVERYDAY RUNNER?

Why shout ??

No it doesn't have to come out at 50k, the servicing is the same as any other rs clio. Cambelt is 5 years or 72k.

If you can afford the petrol, it would be fine as an every day car.

Every day running costs are not that bad, expect 22-24mpg and thats all untill it needs money spending, i.e.

Brack pads and disc's are expensive. £300 disc's and £250 pads (something like that anyway)
Camblelt every 5 years or 72000 miles. £800-£1000+
tyres are quite exspensive and dont last too long. Rear £160 and front £150.
Body work is very expensive.
Suspension is not cheap.
service is about £180 for 12000 miles not sure about 24000 miles.
Tax £210 and insurance (it all adds up).

Carn't think of much else.

Whoever told you that was wrong, it only has to come out for the cambelt change.
Loads & loads of info on here.

Has to come out for gearbox, clutch and various pumps too! But mehh...Who cares.

I avg about 24 round town, not to similar to my old 172. But i don't feel the need to drive the vee fast! On a longer run you'll see 30-32Mpg!

I'm off to cadwell tomo, first longish trek for me. Wish i'd bought a spare coil but i'm going to risk it.

Yep engine comes out 5 years 72,000 miles as stated.

Pads aren't so bad now, I got redstuff front and rears pads off K-Tec for £170 and you can find them cheaper or go cheaper pads for under £100 although why put cheap pads on a car i'll never know same as skimping on tyres.

Spend £10,000+ on a car then not pay £50 a tyre extra for a premium decent brand and pattern.

I've had mine since April and since then 'so far' nothing has gone wrong with it.

It's a fun car for me so I see around 20mpg, although if you do a long motorway trek sticking to 80ish you'll see as high as 28mpg :)

When the engine out is it best to change the clutch as well, or is it pretty good as standard?

IMPO i dont really think they are an everyday car, as the fuel costs alone are fairly high. More the weekend away type car.

I would love to get one but just really impractical

They are well bad on juice.Telford mike who used to be on here said the difference from 172 to V6 was a big one just on petrol.

Wonder where he is now
