Clio Vs Escort Series 1 RS Turbo

Hi All, just a little debate thing for ya, i sit next to this guy at work who is die hard series 1 fan and rs1600s is it?? and obviousle him owning a xr3i now and me owning a renault we have our daily banter about makes/models etc lol, so was wondering what everyone here think of the series one??

Very nice motor IMO. As long as it is std looking i.e. original wheels and mint body work. Being a turbo they can be tuned to silly power but std I dont think they are too quick...

Mint ones with clear indicators etc, diamond cut and polished orig rims do look nice, seats are nice but the actual dash is horrid.

Standard RS, a valver will see off quite confortably but then you can get 250+ bhp from an RS for the same money it would take to get a Valver to 160!!

RS1600is are very rare compared to Xrs and even to some extent the RSs but not in the same league as the RS or Clio 16v/Williams.

S1s seem to be alot more sought after these days than the more common S2.

Series 1 RSs are lush! I would easily swap my Valver for a mint example!

Aint too fast in standard form though! Raced two which must have been standard. One i was quicker than and the other, well i got lost in a big plume of black smoke as the turbo blew! Oops!

Can be tuned to silly power though which means they have the potential to blow loads of cars away!!

My mate had a tidy Series 1..standard looking but would easily embarass 225 TTs, Scoobies, 325s etc. the look on the 325s drivers face when a B reg Escort whooped his brand new Beemer ass was priceless. Series 1s are my fave old school hot hatch.

i will always love the series 1 !

if ever i could afford a second car to keep in the garage, that would be one of them !

(i would keep it hidden away as to preserve it, you know the ones that never go out in the rain !! otherwise it would end up sh*te or get stolen)
