Clio will not start at all

My 2003 Clio decided to pack in whilst reversing it into the garage today. The stop light flashed up and then seconds after it cut out. When I try to start it I get a clicking noise (nobody says it's a flat battery because it isn't), the immobiliser light is on constantly like a solid light and STOP and the battery flash when I try to start it-- sounds like something is stuck and not letting it start, any suggestions?

starter motor ..? try tapping the starter motor solenoid

I'd say either starter motor or failing that your immobiliser may have problems mines was playing up couple month ago

Generally it wouldn't be the starter motor if it cut out though?

Has it had problems before mate? I.e starting intermittedley? If so, then probably the starter motor!

Also, maybe try and put it in gear, rock it (wait for a click) then try and start it.

Sounds like what I had on my 172 a while ago.

Was the immobiliser, the car wouldn't recognise the key (even though I'd been driving round in it that day).

Had to get key reprogrammed in end iirc

The immo light would be flashing if that was the case.
