Clio wont start

Well ive now sold my Clio Dynamique to my brother. He is using it to replace his espace (Dont ask).

Anyway back to the topic. Went to start her the other day but battery was flat. Just about able to lock the doors with it. So yesterday bought a charger and set in on charge over night, now that was fun as i had to lock the car with the remote and then disconnect the battery while the alarm was telling me the bonnet was open. Then today got home from work put the battery back in and went to start it. No joy. If you turned the ignition on and wait for the lights to go out and then try to start. Nothing. If you went to start it straight away, it would turn over a few times and then stop.

So when the very kind man came (the AA). He said hed seen this once before. What you have to do is put the ignition on, wait for the lights to go out and then turn the ignition off. Do this 10 times. Then the car will start. And it did.

Just thought this would be handy to know. If not then fine, ill get back to driving my skoda!

sounds like an intermittant fault with the decoder ring(aerial around ing switch that picks up the transponder key)

the 3 main things that cause non start problems on new clios seem to be:-

1,decoder ring

2,key transponders

3,tdc sensors
