Clio182 Production Run

Does anyone know how long Renault will make the 182 for? I realise its only recently come out but manufacturers seem to be changing all the time at the mo!

But the new Clio comes out at the beginning of 2005. I cant see them still making the 182 once the new model is out......So youve got until the end of the year!!

The new Clio will definitely have 5 NCAP stars and to achieve this it will be heavier and require more power to achieve the same performance.

As I see it the car will either be slower or cost more and have the sort of handling problems that effect the CTR or Focus RS.

I personally think the 182 will be the end of an era so get one now before its too late if you want one. I assume production will stop when the standard new Clio is released and not when the sport model of the new Clio is introduced.

Could have less than a year left? If lager is right and early 2005 is the date then from that you have to deduct the current 3 to 4 month lead time... that would make autumn the last chance?

The present 182 will probably continue when the new Clio out as its probably very cheap to make.

Also bringing out a new model Clio is very difficult so the less model availiable the better at first also the demand for the new car will probabyl be very high so its a waste geoing flat out production for all models when they can leave the sport model for say 6~12months and then when the damand for the new cara nd all the problems are ironed out then use the extra sport models sales to fill the production lines up.

The sport version at the moment isnt built at the same place as normal model (not sure if this will change for the new cars) so its not like production will be affected by having 2 lines going at ones.

Arent the basic shell/chassis and certain other common components made at the same place and then shipped to the Dieppe factory for fitting of the custom sports parts and final assembly? It would surely be impossible to keep production of a new and old model going.
