Clios at the ’ring today.

  Clio 197

Figures that after there were 17 British Clios at the ring, a couple French ones turned up today. In over a year of going to the ring Ive only seen a handful and thie weekend almost 20!

One of the French cars was a Ragnotti and they are very subtle. The only place that Ragnotti is written is on the INSIDE of the glove box door! No badges whatsoever on the outside to give the game away. The owner told me that they only sold 300 in France and theat you cant get any more. Heard that before! They were sorry that they had missed all the Cliosport cars yesterday.

I hope everybody made it home in one piece, without any further misadventures.

Ragnotti is a cup. The Cup is only a Cup in the UK/Ireland.

Not sure that anyone used a watch, but if someone videoed a lap, it is easy enough to time. Nobody was in a position to go for a time. It generally takes about 20 to 50 laps before you can string together a decent sequence. The surest way to crash is to try to go quickly too soon.

The ring is 20km around and there are quite a few turns, some of them rather intimidating. And unlike modern circuits, there is little of no run-off for much of the lap. Intimidating to newcomers to say the least.

Did I say misadventures? Silly me...

Ed Im definitely coming over again soon, and Im sure theres plenty of others wholl be up for it. BTW If that does mean the claw of the master then i want LA GRIFFE DU MAITRE on my back window ASAP. Beats On a Mission hands down!

Nick,

It really is very good value, isnt it? Check out Ben Lovejoys site, and hook up with the ringers. Sometimes you might even find someone to share the cost of ferry and petrol for the trip. They are a great bunch.

Yeah I saw a few Ringers cars on the way back...an Escort Cossie, an old Saph and an M5 with a couple of battle scars, they were on the Eurotunnel.

Hi Eddd - thanks for taking me for a few laps in my car! Unfortunately Im now off work as I have done my back in - probably from bracing myself in the back under your pilotage!

I will get the video together for the CD.
