I thought my clio was a heap but it seems I've been one of the lucky ones.
- Car cost = £6k (was back in Oct 2004 though!)
- Insurance, petrol and tax are needed on all cars so shouldn't really be included.
- Same with MOT (never had to pay any extra than the standard MOT cost)
- Services cost about £90, so no more than any other car would cost.
- Cam belt = £250
- New exhaust (old one broke bang on 40k miles) = £300
- New front brake pads = Only cost about £30.
- A belt tensioner needed replacing = £150.
- New headlight bulbs = £10
That's it for costs in 2.5 years and 20k miles.
It hasn't been faultless though; I've had to call the AA man out twice, but neither time cost me any money. An electric window mechanism broke but managed to fix it myself.
It's even still on the same tyres which came with it (plus I've got two unused spares too).
So I think it's a cheap car. Although saying all this, I bet the engine drops out tomorrow! Then the wheels will fall off.
