It was the Castle Combe Spring Action Day yesterday and easily the wettest on memory, rained solidly for the first 5 hours, making for a wonderfully wet track.
Any ClioSport members there? Quite a few Clios about, a Williams went out on the track a couple times (darn fast, never seen one really motoring before), a 172 Cup and also a heavily modified recent Clio that looked as though it may have been a Dynamique. I didnt stay for the whole day but walking round there were plenty of 182s and 172s dotted about which I guess may have gone out on the track later.
Good day despte the weather, hundreds of spins, oddly enough the Evos seemed to be struggling on the corners but the Clios I watched seemed very stable. Highlight had to be a 700bhp Triumph that only just managed to stay on the track every time it accelerated. Also a Golf which I assume had NOS or something, made a stunning noise on the straights.
I had an interesting drive to the circuit, only 20 miles but I pulled out from my house right into the middle of a massive convoy of cars that were heading there to drive on the track. Finally realised how slow my 1.2 is, no probs on the wet corners but keeping up on the straights was impossible (they were even sticking to the speed limits!) People were actually pulling over for them but they didnt seem that intimidating.
