Clutch slip due to oil leak

Im doing a clutch change on a mates williams. He had a new clutch put in and it started slipping soon after. Rather than throw more money at the garage we have taken the engine out and split it from the gearbox. There is oil everywhere (looks like engine oil doesnt smell like gearbox oil) except on the back of the flywheel which is bone dry.

Anyone had this before? Crank u-seal seems to be the obvious choice but I have been told maybe the headgasket. There are no obvious oil runs etc. Cheers all,

John

seeing as youve got it stripped then i would change the rear crank seal to eliminate it.the seals are cheap enough.
