Clutch times and difficulty on 172 cup



Just wounding what the time is to do a clutch, i no it will be different to the experince you have but whats the average normaly?

also how much a pain in the arse is it?

dont qoute me or anything but i think i remeber i being around 5 hours and is not that difficult. much easier if you have ramps. but you may need to drop the subframe to get the box out

I done the one in mine a few months ago, about 4 1/2 hours all in, not to bad, but not the handiest.

i find it easier to do them on the ground than on the ramp! you dont have to drop the subframe, but its handier to. you can slide the box back, just enought to get the clutch kit fitted.
 
omg if you can slide the box back enough then thats alot off it already

what about then lining the clutch up take it u just got to use slide mirror of somthing as alingment tool is out of the question

i dont bother with alignment tools on any clutch i do unless its a tricky one with the release bearing built in to the plate.

theres normally 3 gaps round the pressure plate, nip it up a tad just line it up by feel round the edges.

i just slide the box back aswell..
on 1.2's i have lifted the box out the bonnet aswell.
