CO reading

Guys

What should the idle/fast idle CO level be on a 182 (warm engine)

A mate was setting the CO reading to 2% (normal air) which to me didnt seem right (seemed a bit too high not thast I'd know educated guess)

I will be doing some tests later to see if I have a faulty Lambda or screwed emmisions

Hopefully lambda

Thanks
matt

Carbon Monoxide

Thanks Ijaen, So just set the gauge to zero. Then see what it comes up with (hopefully around what you said)

yeah cars running a cat you see anything from 0 CO to 0.5 ish,,, older cars can be right up to .15 or so, you are allowed .20 for the MOT..

mines about 3.0% lol

Reads 0-0.1% with the device set to 2.0% as required

Guess thats okay then

Another question, Would the emmisions light be triggered if the second lambda wasnt in quite tight enough and perhaps sensing oxygen? (it was ever so slightly loose)

  LY 182
yeah it would, but it would need to see quite alot of air to cause a problem. as it would think its running lean
the second lambda dosnt affect running/emmisions so its more than the downstream lambda at fault.

what light is on, the yellow one thats in the shape of an engine? you do know thats also an engine management light and could be on for any number of reasons?

Thanks for the reply ditz

Nah its deffo one of the lambdas I had it plugged into a computer a while back and it said intermittent lambda fault but I cannot for the life of me remeber wheather it was pre cat or post sorry.

Engine runs beautifully good emmisions/MPG so logic tells me its the post lambda at fault which I'm not to worried about just means I'm going to remove the clock and take out the LED

Edit: sorry yes it is the engine management/emmisions light thats on.

yeh will be post cat im pretty sure then.

whack the back of the clocks off, and duck tape is your freind!

mines about 3.0% lol

3.5% for older non cat cars (pre 93)
0.3% for nearly all cat equipt cars (some differences but not many)

well yeah 0.2 on first test 0.3 fast idle for second test,, as said for most.

im training as a tester:)
