Coil Pack

al

  ST on the way...
I think one of my coil packs is going.

The engine is intermittently idling funny (along with the cold idling problem I had last week) and the fuel economy seems to be about 4-5mpg worse than normal.

It's about 12 months since the last one was replaced.

I was wondering how can I find out if it is a coil and which one?

Thanks :)

Anyone know the rough cost for these? I'm just gonna replace the two packs cos after replacing the idle control valve last week it's still playing up.

I think you can use an ohmmeter to test if they're dud.

Matt, there about £36.64 mate

Al, take your engine cover off, and undo the 10mms holding the coils in. Then start it up, and slowly lift them up, and listen to hear them working, if you lift it all the way out and it cuts out/changes the tone of the engine that ones fine. If you lift it and the engines stays the same, thats possibly the dead one.

While your at it mate, I'd clean you plugs up aswell.

Cheers matey :)

I'll get a coil from Renault and set to it tomorrow, plugs haven't been in long so they should be ok but i'll check em anyway.
