Coilover adjuster thread problems

Hi all.

Came home from work tonight and started to raise the front suspenion a little but as it was rubbing too much, just a bit too low.

Anyway, managed to get the drivers side no bother, then when i went to losen the little hex key to free the adjuster, it was very stuck, went through 3 hex bits before i managed to free it off.

Once i started turning the adjuster up, it got really stiff, i had already cleaned the threads and gave them a little squirt with WD40 but it was still stiff.

I couldnt shift if by hand so i put the C spanner on and tapped it round with a hammer lightly but then i noticed parts of the threads from the adjuster were breaking and coming out the bottom!

Is this a common thing or is it something ive done? And where would i stand with getting a free adjuster sent out from the company?

Thanks

How old are they and did you use some sort of grease on the threads when fitting them?

Yeah, you should put some grease on the threads when you fit them to the car, stops road grit and dirt clogging threads and corroding the bodies.

however at 2 months old I'd be looking for a refund!!

AP Coilovers gary.

I did give the threads a clean with a clean paint brush before moving them.

Ill email the seller and ask. They can only say no i suppose.

Could be worth trying some wd40 and a wire brush too.

But the threads are knackered in the adjuster so thats not going to do anything.

I did clean them up before hand but something has still gone wrong.

I emailed the company i got them from and they have advised me to cut the adjuster off and replace it, so i asked if they are able to help me out with an adjuster.

Anyone know how much it would be?

Ive been messaging back and forth with the company i got them from.

Apparently the adjusters are not covered under warrenty because they are wear and tear items, and that the adjuster must have broken because it was fitted incorrectly so i have to fork out for a new part myself.

Ive replied telling him the adjusters were already fitted to the shocker when i got them!

The problem isnt freeing them off, the threads are fucked already.

Waiting on a reply from FKautomotive about a price for a replacement part

Thanks!
