Coilover Cleaning...

So i just had my wheel off to get some information for Goodridge and my coilovers are fecking Black and covered in grit, tryed scratching it and its still black....they used to be gold !!! so question is whats the best way to clean them up to new looking condish ! ??

Fairy power spray and a powerful hose.

APC first, always try cleaning something with the least aggressive and then work up.

auto glym engine cleaner sorted mine

yup go weak and work your way up. I'd imagine you'll end up resorting to a wire brush to clean the threads up though tbh.

I do the above every springtime (APC) then just make sure the collars arent seized (they can) Then i coat in some white spray grease, keeps them in reasonable condition.

Will have to get a hold of some APC, just use it neat ??

Coilover on the right....was gold at one time in its life !!

WD40 on a rag works for me.

I would skip the APC and go straight for the AG Engine and Machine Cleaner or the Megs Super Degreaser.

Spray, soak, agitate, leave to soak a bit more and rinse.

cant see on the picture very clear but is the gold under all that black sh1t? looks more like corrosion!

if its tar and grime try a pressure washer and some tar remover
