coilovers at last!!

right due to the fact that my car looks like a tractor, and everytime i have asked for suggestions people have said slam it, it is finally happening!!

just a few questions though;

1. Best place to buy, cheapest etc?

2. Do they need setting up, tracking etc, if so how much?

3. If i slam her (which im going to do) and then come to a speed bump how quickly can they be raised and how easy is it to do? I live in leeds for uni where the roads are sh1t but back home theyre fine to be as low as poss!! So would change them from 80 to 50ish each time.

hopefully can get rid of the 4x4 look!!

people like 2modified / rimstyle. just depends who is doing the best deals. john2modified has always done me the best deals though.

yes, once installed it will need to be properly setup. i paid around £70 for my last car to be setup and they spent a little while adjusting camber and checking heights etc.

the guy at 2modified will be able to hook you up with a competively priced set i think.

yes they will need to be tracked properly about 2 weeks after the fitting, to sort out toe etc.

but imho you dont need to spend £100's getting it set up perfectly but many people will say to do that on here as they are driving sports and take them to tracks etc. but i dont think* that its worth the money for a road car tbh

adjusting wise i dnt think its a 10 minuite job put it that way someone will tell you in abit tho! lol

cheers for the quick responses guys as always, interesting about russ, hadnt realised he did them, i know him well (and has just come on msn lol) as hes in leeds, perfect, no postage :D

will also talk to john, is he on here much any more? or am i best off getting hold of him through the site?

Mark where did you have yours setup mate? presume it was around our area?

cheers guys

yeah mine was in leek. cant remember the name of the place, but for what i wanted there was no point in paying for corner weighting or any of that. so just heights camber and toe i think were done with tracking.

quick question how hard is it to setup a coilover suspension for yourself say in the event that there are no modifed tuners for renault in say my country how easy is it can u do it by urself once u have some road and some time to fine tune or is it that complicated to have it expertly done?

If you slam it right down at the front, you will have to be careful with the height due to your splitter. I couldn't put mine on because it was too low and would have been ripped off on speed bumps, drives, kerbs, etc.

you got any coilovers yet then jamie?

not yet mate, gettin it sorted with russ because ive had no reply from john :S

yeah i wont be lowering it that much matey at all, only want about 45 mm for day to day, only slammed at meets and FCS if i get there which is looking doubtful :S:(
