Right im fed up of my standard sh*tty lowered suspension so i want some coilovers. Basically which ones should i be lookin at for a valver on 17s as i aint got a clue?

Have FK Automotive on mine. Think most valver owners have GAZ or AVO. I chose FK as use Koni internals, TUV approved and came with free fitting. Also lifetime guarantee if fitted by FK approved supplier.

f**kinglow

lol

iv used koni coilovers, very good height and damping adjustment

but all cars on coilovers that are fully adjustable handle well, so id base which ones you go for on price

eg when you can get them and cheapest

Didnt know Koni did coilovers for the valver. Didnt see any when I was looking. H&R are supposed to be good but pricey. Heard people need different rate spring on the GAZ stuff but taht was ages ago so probably addressed by them now. Lots rave about AVO and not many have FK stuff. Think Im the only Valver and a few have on new clios.

Think its just down to choice etc at end of teh day. Id ask Ktec as they seem to have a variety and hopefully can steer you to what is good. Place I got mine from said they were well made and dont round off like some makes when using the adjustment spanners.

they go stupidly low :)

if thats how you want it anywayz !........you can have it normalish aswell

hight, damperning and rebound adjustment on the front and only damperning and rebound adjustment on the rears for a 16v

You only get coilovers for the front and these are height adjustable. Obviously if you lower on front teh rear torsion bar will also need lowering, unless teh coilovers are to replace shocks on an already lowered car, in that case would advise to just replace fron shocks with coilovers, depending on what the rears are like.

Think u can get H&R just as fronts only. Probably cost as much as all four in another make but they are supposed to be very good.

My FK Automotives were £480 from a place called Performance Driven in Taunton. They were offering free fitting and set them up really well. May still offer it if you ask.

As your suspension is standard but lowered, probably best to get the front and rear. Your torsion bar should already be lowered so just a swap of shocks on the back I think.

Whatever set up you get make sure you get camber adjustment bolts fitted at same time. I ran over 3 degrees negative camber until I got tyres changed and realised the insides were badly worn. Should be no more than 1.5 degrees negative.

nobodys mentioned Bilstein, proflex, spax etc.

Im going for bilstein coilovers fed up of my konis now.

Are they REALLY worth it over just shocks and springs?

Whats the point in having adjustable shocks if you can only do the front?

Surely that defeats the object that if you wanna go lower or higher you have to adjust the torsion bar each time?

Ive had 3 coilover sets on my valver and there was just one which would go as low as I wanted it to go.

Those are the GAZ coilovers which can go way too low. I removed the bumpstops once and put it so far down, that my wheels were rubbing everywhere even when going straight on a smooth road. The whole tyre fell into the arch on the front, which looked absolutely sweet, but it wasnt that fun to drive it.

The other coilovers I had were, H&R and Weitec.

The H&R set was pretty old and half worn, so I wasnt very pleased with it. The Weitec set on the other hand was a good set and its a KW product, but it just wouldnt go as low as I wanted it to.

If youre lokking for the best adjsutable set, get the GAZ set, because the rear shocks are also very good adjustable on their damping.
