Cold start, Cars violently stuttering and sounds unhealthy ***Please Help***

Hiyer Guys,

Really need some help, Ive searched through multiple threads but none seem to have the exact same symptoms. Other threads seem to point to either Spark plugs, coil pack, Dephaser pulley etc . . . . Really need to try and narrow it down a bit before i have to shell out more and more money :(

My 182 went into the garage for belts and dephaser changing in october, on the way it came up with an intermitant warning light, the one of a box with a zig zag running through it. Belts were changed and off i went, car sounded a bit rougher to be honest but drove fine, except the warning light kept coming on and off. Turned out the warning light was due to a faulty wire in the engine loom and so all the wires were repaired and the connectors fixed, also the throttle body was replaced

Got the car back and noticed that the rough sound since having the belts done has now turned into a slight ticking noise and the car seems to weeze after coming of the accelerator. The worse part is when the car is started up the car really badly seems to stutter and sounds as though the engine is struggling. It does this through every gear and right through the rev range until the car has warmed up and then it wont happen anymore. The car has no warning lights and garages never seem to be able to find the problem.

Sorry for such a long read, just really need this sorting as its depressing. Any help would be incredibaly appreciated.

Nothing at all last time it was in the garage :( Maybe worth checking again though.

Mybe be worth adding also that i have noticed the CAT making a strange noise recently too. I thought it may be leaking but the car passed its MOT last week.

Think ive sorted the problem with the stuttering engine when cold,

Had a look around the engine bay over the weekend and noticed that there was a problem with the airbox, found that the garage had not put it back together properly when sorting the electrical problem. The airbox was held on with only one bolt and the induction elbow wasnt attached to the airbox but was instead stuffed down below it. Fixed it all back together and so far fingers crossed the car is running smoothly again.

Car is still making a ticking noise but looking at other threads seems my dephaser pulley could be at fault :(

Least its a step forward although i do feel a bit silly for not noticing this before.

the dephaser pulley fault doesn`t sound like a ticking noise , more like a diesel engine , and you can hear it when the car is up to temp , not with the cold engine , at least that`s what mines did .

Took the car to a local Renault specialist to have matched inlets fitted and asked them to take a look at the ticking noise, they firstly asked when it last had an oil change as they thought that may be the problem. However they called my back this morning and said that my fourth Injector had a crack in it which was allowing it to move and they believe this to be the problem causing the ticking. £58.50 for a new one from renault apparently but if it sorts the problem then im happy as i was worried it could be the belts. :)
