Cold Start Cup problem

Car  Pink & Blue 182, JDM DC2

Had a problem with the cup this morning. Turned ignition on, and she started straight away. Remembering id left my lunch inside, I turned off the ignition, ran inside, got it, came back and then....

Would she re-start? Would she feck. Tu-ru-ru-ru-ru.. pop pop pah.... Tu-ru-ru-ru-ru.. pop pop pah.... Tu-ru-ru-ru-ru.. pop pop pah....

Ignition off, key out, key back in, igntion on... start.... Tu-ru-ru-ru-ru.. pop pop pop pah....

After aout 5 mins, of foot to the floor gas, and ignition on, it started... only to drop to 800 revs and stall.

Had to keep the revs at about 2,000 rpm for the first 2mins or so to stop it stalling, after which it was fine.

Any ideas?

How did it go? :p

LMAO.

Sounds like you flooded it, but then I dont think you can do that anymore....

Tu-ru-ru-ru-ru.. pop pop pah pah .... Tu-ru-rum-rum-rum pop pah.... Tu-ru-ru-ru-ru.. pop i can play the piano piano piano.. i can play the piano pian pian O :)

Your all jealous!!

Can I flood it even when it starts it runs lean? Maybe too much air not enough fuel at the beginning and me starting/stopping quickly confused the ECU?

Mate, Could be an Immobiliser prob.

Sounds like the problem I had which was to do with the Key. Try using the spare one and see if it still happens

Well it started first time when I did it, then ignition off like 10 seconds after starting it, and it hadnt been run over the weekend at all...

Sounds to be like freak startup problem rather than immobiliser, as just tried it now, same key, works fine!

Weird.

I had exactly the same thing happen this morning after not using my car this weekend or on Friday (from illness). Got out of car locked it again, banged key on my knee, unlocked car got in started it and all was fine, As if the fuel is not getting in or something (does that sound like it)

Only induction neil. And yes george ^

I described it to dogmaul as follows:

Remember in Gone in 60 Seconds when Nick Cage is in Eleanor hiding from the police when he knocks the mirror off on a dustbin and then the car starts struggling to breath/fuel, like its stalling and mis-firing..

It was just like that.

Yes Just like that, Mine does the same, But every time I take it to Renault they cant seem to replicate the problem, very frustrating.

Got back in it tonight, key in ignition, turn, roared into life!

Have been out tonight now its cold, key in ignition, turned over fine.

Think it was due to fuel/oxygen mix when I faffed around this morning.

Si,

there is a ecu reprogramming renault tech note to do with cold start problems on the 172.

Mine seems to happen if I really rag the car or if it is really hot from sitting in traffic ( which happens alot in Westminster) and then dont drive it for a few days
